Looking a Little Welsh

Picture

Picture
Inspired by a dragon-loving, arrow-shooting, Welsh-speaking adopted daughter.  My interpretation of the big and beautiful red Welsh dragon that roams Wales and adorns their flag.

I reeeeeally wanted to paint him red.  You will have to use your imagination.

Fenrir and the Hand of Tyr

Picture
Inspired by Viking mythology, this picture shows FENRIR the wolf, son of LOKI, bound with a magical ribbon and a dagger in his mouth.  The hand of the god, Tyr, lies rotting after he bit it off.  FENRIR later escaped his bounds during Ragnarok, and killed Odin, supreme god of the Vikings and father of Thor.

Scrimshaw

Picture
Scrimshaw, last of the woolley beasts, is protected by magical runes carved over his cave entrance.  The old elf in a bearskin is his keeper and protector.  You will notice that the end of Scrimshaw's tusk is missing.  It was stolen by goblins for its secrets carved in runes and may have been given to their king.  It is extremely powerful, if anyone knows of its location, please let me know.

On the Glacier

Picture
Elfin warrior riding a spotted unicorn over a glacier at the top of the mountain Wyeast.  His quest will take him to Scrimshaw and his cave.  If you ask why a spotted unicorn?  Well, when you don't screw the nib on tight to the pen... accidents happen....wonderful accidents.

Hell's Spider

Picture
Coming in for a landing......a spider with wings!  Everyone's hell!   This big guy is a compilation of several tarantulas and a jumping spider.  Creepy research to get this one right!  The original is now behind its 4th piece of glass.  He keeps trying to break out!

Mt. Fuji

Picture
This Pen and Ink was inspired by "The Great Wave Off Kanagawa" (aka: The Great Wave) by the great Japanese woodblock artist Katsushika Hokusai (1760 - 1849).
The "chop" is handmade by an artist in China Town, San Francisco.  Viking runes at my request that say "Fay".

Bunny Foo-Foo

Picture
Everyone knows this poem:

Little Bunny Foo-Foo
Hopping through the forest
Picking up the field mice and
Bopping them on the head.

Wanted by the Green Faerie for repeated multiple assaults against field mice! This is my interpretation of the original Bully Bunny.

Unicornuus Sparsus

Picture
Lost in a pile of old drawings for years!  I finally found him in a tattered and yellowing condition.  I drew the scrolled paper around him and high-
lighted the real tears in the paper and added some penciled in ones!

Celestial Battle

Picture
This is one of my first black and white drawings using a brush and bottle of India Ink.  Commissioned in high school in the 60's for the student underground newspaper, it graced the centerfold of one edition now lost in time.

Straight out of my brain, a phoenix battles a two-headed mer-beastie far out in space contained in a cosmic bubble and surrounded by planets and a comet.

Bifurcated Dragon

Picture
This is an early drawing found in the deepy dark corner of my portfolio.  I was experimenting with the Rapidograph Pen to see what all it could do.

An elf helping a two-tailed (bifurcated) dragon from the depths of an abyss.
