Hokusai Carp Study
Love Hokusai! Found a photo of a fan in an art book about Hokusai, famous Japanese wood block print artist. The carp on the fan was my inspiration for this rendering in graphite pencil. I flipped the carp to face the opposite direction and then imagined his body twisting.

Bear Cup
Still lifes are a snapshot in time. The plant did not survive me being its keeper, the glass top to the oil lamp is broken and, sadly, so is the bear cup. I glued the cup back together and he now holds pencils on my drawing board! I fell in love with Prismacolor Pencils after drawing this picture.
